Prague BESTies has decided to organized their historically second educational Summer Course named “Let’s walk together over the Vltava river”. Course was held in Prague from 19th to 28th of July 2013. During the preparations and the course itself we closely cooperated with CTU’s Faculty of Civil Engineering and other companies from civil engineering field. Topic of the course was bridge design and construction.
Despite the extreme tropical weather during arrival day all, 22 participants and 2 co-organizers arrived to Strahov dormitories – for 9 days their new home.
We finally kicked-off the academical part of our summer course after official opening during the second day.
Besides of interesting lectures led by professionals from civil engineering faculty, participants had an option to see modern constructions in Prague and around Prague City.
One of them was Troja bridge, that time in construction. Ing. Dalibor Gregor from Excon company had prepared lecture about construction design and then he took us to the construction site to show us the most important parts of constructions he had designed. We had an amazing opportunity to see architectural important place before its’ opening for public use.
But participants didn’t spend all the time in Prague only at classrooms. They had awesome opportunity to see a lot of beautiful places of mother of cities, spend time with people from almost 20 countries and learn something about Czech traditions and hospitality of local students. Evenings were filled with visits of bars and discos in the city center and of course by traditional BEST parties. One example for all – International evening, where all participants represent their country, their culture and traditions by providing traditional food and drinks.
Nine days were gone as fast as water under Charles’ bridge but memories and new friendships live forever. See you in Awesome Prague again! Hopefully next year during our next summer course!
